Brazil’s National Mining Agency (“ANM”) has released a notice that mining companies that have dams constructed using the upstream method shall submit, until March 31, 2019, a Stability Condition Statement for their dams. The submission is made through the Integrated System of Safety Management of Mining Dams (“SIGBM”). 

The previous deadline set by ANM, which was 30 days from the issuance of Notice No. 06/2019-DIRE/ANM-SEDE, expired this week.

Failure to submit the Stability Condition Statement may lead to an immediate ban on dam activity and fines.
