The Employment (Amendment) (No.3) Ordinance 2018 (the "Amendment Ordinance"), which increases the statutory paternity leave in Hong Kong from three days to five days, was passed by the Legislative Council on 25 October 2018 and was gazetted on 2 November 2018.

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare has, by notice published in the Gazette, appointed 18 January 2019 as the commencement date of the Amendment Ordinance.
