The Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“the law”) came into force on 30 June 2020. The new law has drawn both domestic and international attention due to its uniqueness, which covers the areas of secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign or external forces. In this context, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce hosted a webinar to highlight the law’s relevant aspects titled “Hong Kong’s National Security Law: What You Need to Know” on 15 July 2020. Hong Kong Litigation & Dispute Resolution Partner Thomas So was invited to share his insights on how the implementation of the National Security in Law in Hong Kong would affect domestic and international business.
