There is much publicity about the rise of collective actions across the UK and more broadly in the EU. But are they really on the rise? Are businesses at greater risk now from these types of actions – whether from disaffected shareholders, injured consumers, competition infringements or otherwise? How might this market develop in the future? What can we learn from the experience in the US?
In addition to speakers from Mayer Brown’s European and US offices, these were joined by external speakers from a prominent litigation funder and a leading broker of litigation funding and insurance products, who shared their perspective on the types of claims that are attractive to funders, the economics of these claims and the barriers to funding them.
