Almost one year ago, the Supreme Court decided Bristol-Myers Squibb v. Superior Court, a near unanimous decision placing important safeguards that protect the constitutional rights of defendants on where they can be sued. On June 4, ILR will release research and convene a panel of experts, including Mayer Brown’s Archis Parasharami, to discuss the practical implications of the case and what it did (and did not do) to bring predictability to litigants defending suits across the country.

The panel will also discuss how the limits of BMS are being tested in the courts and how defendants can respond effectively in battleground areas such as:

  • Class Actions and Unnamed Class Members
  • Applicability to Federal Courts
  • Jurisdictional Discovery
  • Consent Jurisdiction and Waiver
