While companies doing business in the European Union may be familiar with the strict data protection laws of the 1995 Data Protection Directive, the requirements of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) present an even tougher and more complicated regulatory framework—with a potential for much higher fines. And the GDPR‘s jurisdiction extends even to organizations located outside EU borders that offer goods or services or otherwise track the behavior of people in Europe.
All companies subject to the GDPR must comply by its effective date of May 25, 2018. This means that the clock is ticking to prepare to meet the GDPR obligations and avoid the substantially tougher sanctions under this new law.
Please join Mayer Brown lawyers Mark Prinsley and Kendall Burman as they discuss:

- Tips on preparing for the May 2018 implementation
