Mayer Brown partners Oliver Yaros, Charles-Albert Helleputte and Mark Prinsley will explore the new requirements under the European General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and will provide a detailed assessment of the ten steps your organisation will need to take to get ready to comply with it by 25 May 2018.

General Data Protection Regulation
Organisations located within and outside the European Union that process personal data must prepare to comply with new requirements following the adoption of the GDPR, which introduces a tougher and more complicated regulatory framework across the EU Member States.

The new law replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive with a regulation that tightens restrictions concerning the collection and use of personal data and permits national data protection authorities to impose fines of up to four percent of an organisation's annual global revenue for each infringement.

Starting from 25 May 2018, those organisations that process personal data in the context of their European operations, offer goods or services to or track the behaviour of individuals located in Europe, must comply with the new law.

Join us as we discuss:

  • The new requirements under the GDPR;
  • What companies can expect – immediately and down the road – with the implementation of the GDPR; and
  • How companies can best prepare in order to meet the obligations introduced by the GDPR and avoid the substantially tougher sanctions under this new law.
