Mayer Brown hosted a seminar on the Hong Kong Competition Ordinance at the Hong Kong Japanese Chamber of Commerce & industry (HKJCCI). Our presentation addressed the major implications of the legislation to over 60 persons from the Japanese business community in Hong Kong, representing a wide range of industries including but not limited to aviation, banking, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, trading companies, electronics manufacturers and construction. The presentation was also attended by the Chief Consul, Economic Section, of the Consulate-General of Japan and representatives from InvestHK of The Government of the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.

The seminar talked about:

  • The status and roadmap of the Competition Ordinance.
  • The enforcement structure and role of the Competition Commission and Competition Tribunal.
  • An overview of the competition rules with reference to landmark EU cases, implications on the HKJCCI and risk management tips.
