After nearly six months of dramatically lower commodity prices, things are once again interesting in the oil patch. While E&P operators are laying down rigs and cutting capex budgets, the oil field services companies that serve them are facing complex legal issues not seen in 10 years.
Please join Mayer Brown, the Institute for Energy Law’s Oil Field Services Committee and special guest David Cunningham, Managing Director and Co-Head of OFS IB at Tudor Pickering Holt & Co., for the first of a multi-part series that will address the legal and practical solutions to these issues. These events will feature panelists from advisory firms and oil field service companies, and will include ample time to share war stories over drinks with your colleagues.
The program will cover:
- Counterparty contracting/bankruptcy—how to protect yourself when your E&P customers are in a distressed state (e.g., once they file, how to get paid or improve your position)
- Working with creditors committees and/or positioning yourself after a counter-party has filed for bankruptcy
- Obligations and duties during “insolvency”
- Key drivers for developing a successful restructuring strategy
