AILA will be delivering training in investment treaty law and arbitration to lawyers from across Africa and to those with an interest in African investment, aimed at increasing legal awareness amongst local lawyers advising governments/investors on international investment agreements. The sessions will be delivered by an ad hoc team of eminent investment arbitration practitioners, professors and arbitrators from various parts of Europe.
Training is open to African lawyers qualified to practice in their countries, lawyers who:
- Work in the Attorney General’s office (or equivalent) or are in private practice but are instructed by their governments or investors on investment treaty issues;
- Are currently or will be involved in the negotiation of investment treaties; and/or
- Represent their governments or investors in investment treaty claims
