Employers must ensure the health and safety of all employees and others who come into the workplace. This Duty of Care extends to business travellers and international assignees and may even extend to their dependents who accompany them. Business opportunities have seen more companies are sending their staff abroad either for short-term business travel or to serve as long-term expatriates. Away from familiar surroundings, employees may encounter precarious environments, presenting increased and unfamiliar threats to their health, safety and security. How do employers meet their legal and ethical Duty of Care obligations for the health, safety and security of their international assignees?

As the responsibilities of Duty of Care grows in importance and complexity, employers need an integrated, strategic approach to Duty of Care and work together with employees to mitigate risks and provide timely, proactive and efficient solutions. This seminar aims to enhance the understanding of Duty of Care and will focus on the following topics:

  • Employer's duty of care from the legal perspective
  • Risks faced by the global workforce
  • Challenges in compliance
  • Successful traveller risk management methodology
