While the intensity of enforcement activity under the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act has increased markedly in recent years, the financial services sector has remained largely outside the focus of the enforcement initiatives of the Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission—until now. Apparently the SEC has just launched FCPA compliance probes of at least 10 financial institutions, particularly with regard to their dealings with sovereign wealth funds.
Join Mayer Brown partners Simeon M. Kriesberg and Michael L. Volkov for a special Friday session of our Global Financial Markets Initiative Teleconference Series. They will discuss the implications of this new enforcement focus for global financial institutions and examine FCPA compliance best practices applicable to interactions with sovereign wealth funds.
