For the first time in more than a decade, the US Supreme Court has begun to revisit the legal principles governing class action litigation. Last Term, the Supreme Court issued two major decisions affecting class action lawsuits. This Term also may result in several blockbuster rulings that are critical to businesses that face class actions.

In this webinar, Donald Falk, Archis Parasharami, and Kevin Ranlett – members of Mayer Brown’s Consumer Litigation & Class Actions and Supreme Court & Appellate practice groups – will analyze the Supreme Court’s current and recent class action cases, identify issues that may receive the Supreme Court’s attention in the near future, and provide commentary on how potential changes in the law governing class actions may affect businesses defending against class actions.

Some of the cases we will discuss are:

  • Dukes v. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.
  • Smith v. Bayer Corp.
  • Shady Grove Orthopedic Assocs., P.A. v. All-State Ins. Co.
  • Stolt-Nielsen v. AnimalFeeds Int’l Corp.
