Recent Trends in US Climate Change Policy and Litigation
Climate change legislation is moving forward in the US Congress, the Environmental Protection Agency is picking up the pace in issuing greenhouse gas regulations under the existing Clean Air Act, and US courts are allowing global warming claims to proceed. Meanwhile, the international community is seeking to develop a consensus about the obligations of all greenhouse gas emitting countries when the first Kyoto Protocol commitment period ends in 2012.
In this webinar, we offer an update on US legislative and regulatory developments and put them in context with the upcoming international negotiations set for Copenhagen in early December. We will also discuss the burgeoning array of climate change litigation in the US, defense strategies, and where those lawsuits are likely to go next.
