As President Obama moves past the symbolic first 100 days of his presidency, there is still much uncertainty about what to expect from his new administration. In this series of post-inauguration webinars, Mayer Brown's Government & Global Trade practice, in conjunction with practices across the firm, is taking a closer look at the changes we might see under our new President and how his policies could affect areas such as energy, tax, legal reform, telecommunications, and government contracts, among others.
The sixth event in Mayer Brown's Post-Inauguration Webinar Series focused on potential changes in the area of antitrust law, as President Obama implements his campaign promise to "reinvigorate antitrust enforcement." With the new leadership of the two antitrust agencies in place, we now have a definite idea of their approach to competition policy and their enforcement priorities. At the same time, several legislative initiatives are active and moving forward which may change the antitrust landscape considerably.
