The US Treasury proposals for a financial regulatory overhaul are expected to include substantive measures impacting the regulation and operation of the securitization industry. Amongst other issues, the proposals are expected to address risk sharing, reporting requirements and ratings agencies. Speculation is now mounting on the extent to which the proposals will build on industry-led initiatives which are already underway.

Mayer Brown has been actively involved in helping to shape many of these industry initiatives through its work with the American Securitization Forum, SIFMA and other industry bodies. On Thursday, June 18, Jason Kravitt, one of the country's leading securitization attorneys, will provide an overview of the new Treasury proposals as they relate to securitization and discuss the extent to which they may help or hinder the securitization industry going forward.
