Post-Inauguration Series: Energy Outlook in the New Administration

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Yesterday, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. As President Obama moves into the Oval Office, what can we expect from his new administration? In this new series, Mayer Brown will take a closer look at the changes we might see under our new President and how his policies could affect areas such as tax, legal reform, telecommunications, and antitrust, among others.

For our first event in this series, we will focus on energy and climate change prospects, which were central to the President's campaign platform. Mayer Brown Partners Jeffrey Davis and Robert Edwards, along with Counsel David Finnegan, will discuss the following topics:

  • How will Obama's push for "green" energy move forward?
  • What role will tax incentives play in energy policy?
  • What are the plans for renewable energy initiatives?
  • Perspectives on Obama's 2009 domestic/international climate agenda
