Stan Williams II is an associate in Mayer Brown’s Houston office and a member of the Global Oil & Gas and Corporate & Securities practices.
Throughout his career he has been engaged in the analysis, review and negotiation of upstream oil and gas contracts including complex oil and gas leases, surface use agreements, pooling agreements, production sharing agreements, enhanced oil recovery agreements, areas of mutual interest, joint operating agreements and development agreements involving multiple basins.
He focuses his practice advising clients on transactional matters regarding the acquisition, development, and divestment of upstream and midstream energy assets throughout Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana, with particular experience in Texas panhandle, Barnett, Haynesville and Eagle Ford assets.
Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Stan served as Land Manager of numerous assets for Chesapeake Energy. He led land exploration and production, division order and lease administration teams in the acquisition, administration, development and divestment of premiere oil and gas assets throughout Texas and Louisiana. Coinciding with those efforts, he oversaw regulatory compliance matters involving the Texas Railroad Commission and Louisiana Department of Natural Resources. His responsibilities also included overseeing multi-year development agreements with domestic and international oil and gas companies. Other responsibilities included drafting contracts; overseeing negotiations involving trades and various transactions; acquiring and renegotiating leases; overseeing land brokers and surveying teams; developing and coordinating land budgets; ensuring timely execution of all land matters to support drilling programs with up to 23 active rigs; and communicating with all organizational levels and disciplines, including the Executive Committee.
Stan received his JD from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and his BBA from the University of Oklahoma. He is a Certified Professional Landman, and admitted to practice in Oklahoma and Texas.
