Emily Strunk is a senior associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution group in Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office. She focuses on regulatory matters and consumer protection issues, primarily as they relate to products regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Emily works with clients in the food, pharmaceutical, medical device, dietary supplement, and cosmetics industries to develop and implement strategies for regulatory approvals and clearances, compliance and enforcement actions, crisis management, rulemaking, and public policy issues.

Emily’s experience also encompasses matters before the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), National Advertising Division, US Department of Agriculture, Consumer Product Safety Commission, Customs and Border Protection, and Environmental Protection Agency, and their counterparts in other countries. As a result, she has a keen insight into agency thinking when complex situations or applications to new technologies reveal gaps or gray areas in the law.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Emily worked in marketing, public relations and fundraising, which allows her to better understand and account for business goals in regulatory strategies. With this perspective informing her legal practice, Emily has developed a niche in the area of labeling and claims and the joint jurisdiction of the FDA and the FTC.

Emily earned her JD cum laude from American University Washington College of Law, where she served as founding editor-in-chief for Health Law & Policy and earned recognition for pro bono service. Emily earned her BA summa cum laude from Arizona State University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and she also has a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University.
