Overview

Jason Romick is a member of Mayer Brown’s Corporate & Securities practice based in Chicago. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, where he regularly advises private equity firms and corporate clients in connection with a variety of strategic transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, investments, joint ventures and other corporate matters. Jason is recognized as one of the leading insurance brokerage M&A attorneys in North America.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, Jason spent twelve years in various high-level in-house counsel positions at Hub International Limited, the sixth largest insurance broker in the world. Most recently as Vice President, Chief M&A Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, Jason led a legal team responsible for completing an industry-leading 350 strategic transactions totaling more than $1 billion in acquired revenue. He played an integral role in taking Hub private in its $1.9 billion management buyout with Apax Partners and Morgan Stanley in 2007 and in its $4.4 billion recapitalization with Hellman and Friedman in 2013. During his tenure with Hub, Jason also managed a diverse set of other matters, including labor and employment for a 10,000 person multi-national organization, real estate, corporate governance and compliance.

Jason received his JD, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law and his BSBA, with honors, from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Upon graduating from law school, Jason spent a year as a law clerk to the Honorable Milton I. Shadur of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
