Overview

Olena V. Ripnick-O’Farrell is an Intellectual Property associate in Mayer Brown's New York office. Her practice focuses on copyright, trademark, trade dress and other intellectual property litigation and counseling and spans a number of industries, including media and technology.

Olena joined the firm in 2019. Prior to this, she was an associate in the Intellectual Property Group at a prominent international law firm, where her experience included a trial victory in a trade dress infringement action involving a quilted handbag design; a settlement relating to a multi-jurisdictional trademark dispute on the eve of a preliminary injunction hearing; and representing and counseling clients in a wide array of industries in copyright, trademark, trade dress and other intellectual property matters, including with respect to litigation, licensing and intellectual property protection.

Olena received her JD from Columbia Law School in 2014, where she was a James Kent Scholar and the recipient of the Carroll G. Harper Prize for Excellence in Intellectual Property. She also received the distinction of being named Best in Class in Copyright Law.

Olena has served on the Copyright & Literary Property Committee of the New York City Bar Association, is an active member of the Copyright Society of the USA, and has taught a number of CLE courses relating to copyright law and policy. She also serves on the Associate Board of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and is the recipient of the VLA’s Jeanne Hall Pro Bono Award, which recognizes an attorney’s outstanding contributions to the arts community, VLA’s clients and VLA’s mission.

Olena is a member of the Bar of the State of New York and is admitted to practice before the Southern District of New York, the District of Colorado, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
