Rodrigo Leal

Rodrigo Leal (He/him) is an associate in Intellectual Property and Data Protection practice in the Rio de Janeiro office of Tauil & Chequer Advogados, with expertise in brand portfolio management, strategic consulting, both in the administrative and judicial areas, with an emphasis on Trademarks, Copyrights, Trade Dress, Trade Secrets, Advertising and Consumer Law, Domain Name, Technology Transfer Contracts, Franchising and Data Protection.

Rodrigo has experience in negotiating and drafting contracts involving intellectual property and the entertainment market, especially copyrights, concerts, festivals and brands, with several national and international entities. Rodrigo worked for 7 years at Globo, guiding various productions of new audiovisual and musical content, as well as the acquisition of intellectual assets of the company. He participated directly in Globo's compliance project to adapt to the new legal and regulatory data protection guidelines, both European and Brazilian.

Rodrigo holds the CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) and CDPO/BR (Certified Data Protection Officer Brazil) issued by the IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals), evidencing his experience and ability to advise clients on Data Privacy and Data Protection, including complete projects to comply with the data protection legislation, performing and assisting on data mappings (including interviewing clients’ employees and advisors), diagnostic reports and monitoring risks in general associated with Data Protection and Privacy, preparing and reviewing contracts, policies, corporate rules, global corporate standards, codes of ethics; performing risk assessments related to privacy and data protection; designing and conducting training and assisting clients in carrying out international transfers of personal data, among other activities related to Privacy and Data Protection.

Before joining Tauil & Chequer Advogados, Rodrigo was a lawyer at Globo Comunicação e Participações S.A from 2013 to 2019. Previously, Rodrigo was an intern at the Federal Public Ministry and other important law firms.
