Matthew Line is a senior associate in the Insurance & Reinsurance practice of the London office. He has a broad range of experience in handling contentious insurance and reinsurance matters. He has a particular interest in professional indemnity claims. Matthew has advised insurers in relation to non-disclosure, misrepresentation, breach of warranty, aggregation and other coverage issues as well as defending policyholders against claims brought by third parties. As a former barrister, Matthew is a confident advocate and experienced litigator. He has also run several arbitrations and mediations. Matthew is a commercially minded lawyer who has experience of working within a claims department from his time on secondment at Travelers.
Professional Indemnity: advising insurers on claims brought against various professionals including accountants, insurance brokers, solicitors, surveyors and valuers.
Political Risk: defending insurers against claims in international arbitrations.
Financial Institutions: advising insurers on coverage issues arising from claims brought against financial institutions, including in relation to mis-selling and Madoff-related claims.
Reinsurance: advising insurers on recovery actions and reinsurers on various issues including follow the settlements clauses and coverage disputes.
