Overview

Helen Kerr's practice focuses on defending claims against professionals including solicitors, barristers, insolvency practitioners, accountants and valuers. She helps clients deal with complex, high value claims arising out of a diverse range of subject matters, including property transactions, tax planning and failed litigation. Clients also seek Helen's advice in relation to regulatory investigations and disciplinary proceedings.

Helen is well-versed in High Court and Commercial Court litigation and also has experience resolving disputes by way of mediation, both in person and remotely. She is a great strategic thinker and tactician, and clients value her pragmatic approach.

Experience

  • Successfully defending the Leading Tax Silk, Andrew Thornhill KC, against a multimillion pound claim brought by investors in a film finance tax scheme. This case was featured in The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases of 2021.
  • Successfully defending a high-profile, £250m claim against the former joint administrators of One Blackfriars Limited, arising from the alleged sale at an undervalue of a large real estate development site in London.
  • Acting for an international law firm against a former client who had invested in a failed Enterprise Zone tax avoidance scheme.
  • Defending solicitors in proceedings before the Solicitor Disciplinary Tribunal.
