Overview

David English is an associate in the Tax practice of the London office, with over 15 years post-qualification tax experience. David has extensive advisory experience in UK corporate tax, international tax, and supply chain structuring across a diverse range of industries such as banking and finance, technology, energy, and entertainment. He advises on corporate tax in a broad variety of domestic and cross border matters in transactions and advisory, including the taxation of mergers and acquisitions/reorganisations, corporate finance, structured finance, banking, funds, insurance, private equity, and real estate.

David is dual qualified in England & Wales and New Zealand. Also, as well as being a solicitor, he is a Chartered Tax Adviser, International Tax Affiliate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Chartered Accountant, and Solicitor Advocate.

Prior to joining Mayer Brown, David's tax career included in-house experience at a top 5 FSTE 100 company helping lead a £45 billion cross border restructuring, wide-ranging corporate tax advisory work in Big Four accounting firms, and most recently several years at HMRC’s Solicitor’s Office doing advisory and litigation, including time in the High Risk Corporates Programme. 

He joined Mayer Brown in 2022.
