João Cunha is an associate in the Employment & Benefits practice of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown in the Rio de Janeiro Office. João has experience advising in relation to all procedures regarding labor matters, involving questions about hiring and dismissal of employees, as well as collective bargaining negotiations or work’s health and safety aspects.
He has, moreover, a solid experience in relation to labor and social security matters litigation, not only on judicial procedures, handling with several types of lawsuits, such as labor claims, collective claims or civil public lawsuits, but also on the administrative ambit, with permanent work on the proceeding at the Ministry of Employment and the Labor Public Prosecutor, such as, example given, notices of infraction involving large amounts and civil inquiries of high complexity.
As a result, João has a strategic vision of corporate labor planning, by acting in the most relevant fronts of the corporate labor law currently.
Prior to joining Tauil & Chequer Advogados, João was associate and law clerk at Trench, Rossi e Watanabe Advogados, from 2015 to 2017. João was also law clerk at Siqueira Castro Advogados and Villemor Amaral.
- Represented national and multinational companies of the oil and gas industry in strategic lawsuits of high complexity, such as civil public lawsuits, collective claims and notices of infraction at the Ministry of Employment.
- Represented several companies of the hotel and telecom industries during Rio de Janeiro’s Olympic Games (2016), mostly in collective bargaining negotiations and regularization of employees and collaborators in Brazil.
- Represented a multinational company of the accounting and auditing area during internal investigations, and, further, on labor lawsuits, regarding several frauds and embezzlement performed by former employees and partners, analyzing company’s compliance policy.
- Represented a multinational company of the aviation industry in all lawsuits involving social security and labor matters in Brazil: judicial, extrajudicial and administrative proceedings.
