Overview

David Brodsky is an associate in Mayer Brown's Washington DC office and a member of the Real Estate Markets practice. David represents private equity funds, life insurance companies and other institutional real estate investors in matters related to the financing, acquisition/disposition, development, and leasing of commercial real estate assets. His practice focuses on structuring, negotiating, and drafting a variety of transactional documents, analyzing due diligence materials, and coordinating complex deals through closing. David has experience in transactions involving a wide variety of asset classes, including office buildings, shopping centers, manufactured housing communities, self-storage facilities, multifamily and industrial properties.

Acquisitions and Dispositions

  • Represented a private equity fund manager in its sale of a 1 million sq. ft., six-building, Class A office campus spanning 27 acres in Indianapolis, IN.
  • Represented a private equity fund manager in its acquisition of an industrial portfolio in Tampa, FL.
  • Represented a private equity fund manager in its $91 million sale of a 345,417 sq. ft., Class A office complex in Scottsdale, AZ.
  • Represented a joint venture in its $44 million acquisition of a 307-unit, Class A apartment community in Rock Hill, S.C.
  • Represented a private equity fund manager in its acquisition of a majority interest in an 11-story, Class A office condominium building in Washington, D.C.
  • Represented a joint venture in its acquisition of a 245-unit apartment community in Charlotte, N.C.
  • Represented a joint venture in its acquisition of the Meridian at Pentagon City, a 534-unit, two-tower multi-housing property in northern Virginia.
  • Represented a joint venture in its $10.2 million acquisition of 41 L Street, SE, Washington, D.C., from WMATA.
  • Represented a publicly traded real estate investment trust in the sale of a 290,762 sq. ft. office building located at 2100 M Street, NW, Washington, D.C., for $92 million.
  • Represented a publicly traded real estate investment trust in the sale of all of the membership interest in the entity that owns the office building located at 1425 New York Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
  • Represented an individual in connection with the acquisition of multiple manufactured housing communities.

Financing

  • Represented a private equity fund manager in its assumption and workout of a $55 million construction loan in connection with its acquisition of a mixed-use property in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
  • Represented a borrower in a $133 million syndicated construction loan for a development in SE, Washington, D.C.
  • Represented a borrower in a $43.2 million acquisition and construction loan for a mixed-use development in SE, Washington, D.C.
  • Represented a borrower in a $30 million refinance of an industrial portfolio in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
  • Represented a borrower in a $20 million construction loan for a hotel development in NW, Washington, D.C.
  • Represented a borrower in a $60 million refinance (with Fannie Mae) of three low-income housing properties in Florida.
  • Represented a lender in a $20 million construction loan for a mixed-use project including condominiums and office space.

  • Represented the center for German culture and language in a lease transaction for space at 1701 14th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. 
  • Represented a landlord in a lease transaction for 100,000+ square feet of industrial space in Maryland.

  • Represented a publicly traded real estate investment trust in multiple industrial lease transactions in Maryland, Washington, D.C. and Virginia.
