Michael K. Marion

Michael Marion

Michael joined our firm’s Tax Transactions Practice in New York as an associate in 2005 after receiving his LLM in Tax at New York University School of Law and his JD at George Washington University Law School. Michael was a gifted tax lawyer—specializing in structured and leveraged finance transactions, capital markets transactions and securitizations—and was universally admired for his immense talents and the collaborative way he served our clients. As a practice leader in our New York office, Michael also was one of the youngest members of Mayer Brown’s leadership team, reflecting how quickly and easily he came to be regarded as a leader among his colleagues.

Mark W. Ryan

Michael Marion

Mark's career in public service and private practice spanned more than four decades. He joined Mayer Brown as an associate in 1981 and went on to serve in multiple leadership roles at the firm and in government. In 2012, Mark was named the first-ever director of litigation in the US Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, where he served as lead trial counsel in several prominent cases. He rejoined Mayer Brown’s Washington DC office in 2015 to lead the firm’s Antitrust & Competition practice. Mark’s years at Mayer Brown also included holding several other key positions—among them, firm-wide litigation practice leader, Policy and Planning Committee member and managing partner of the Washington DC office. A graduate of Syracuse University and Duke University School of Law, Mark was a mentor to many Mayer Brown lawyers and played vital roles in the development of the Antitrust & Competition practice and the firm’s Washington office.
