Mayer Brown announced that Corporate & Securities partner Bob Gray (Houston) has been named to Texas Lawyer’s 2019 list of “Texas Trailblazers.” This inaugural list recognizes “agents of change” – legal professionals who have made significant strides in their practices. (View profile.)

Since joining the firm 14 years ago from his previous firm, Mr. Gray has found a culture of true collaboration at Mayer Brown, where he has been able to expand his extensive experience in facilitating numerous cross-border transactions for energy companies based in Houston and other parts of the US.

Mr. Gray sees energy as a technology business with Houston as the “Silicon Valley” of that technology and hopes to prove that Houston is a “real international center” in the world of high-value commerce. However, as with all technology, US regulators are sensitive about sharing technologies with foreign entities, so Mr. Gray has seen an increasing use of joint ventures with foreign entities where only “non-offending” technology is controlled by the newly formed joint venture company.

As cross-border transactions continue, Mr. Gray will advocate for the interests of Texas companies. “My crusade is to advance the reputation of Houston economically,” he said.
