Mayer Brown announced that the US Cyberspace Solarium Commission (CSC) has engaged the firm to serve as pro bono counsel. Partner David Simon is to serve as chief counsel for cybersecurity and national security to the CSC and senior associates Veronica Glick and Joshua Silverstein are to serve as deputy chief counsel for the same (all Washington DC). The Mayer Brown team will advise the commission on legal matters pertaining to their reviews on cybersecurity, national security, data privacy, and public international law.
The CSC, which was established by Congress as part of the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act, brings together a bipartisan group of lawmakers, federal agency leaders, think tanks, and the private sector to develop a comprehensive strategy to defend the US in cyberspace against cyberattacks of significant consequences.
