Mayer Brown litigators in Chicago achieved a very favorable settlement on behalf of pro bono clients, two hearing impaired individuals and their daughter. The family had sued their condominium association and management company for violations of the Fair Housing Act, alleging that the defendants failed to reasonably accommodate their disabilities and then retaliated against them for asserting their rights. Mayer Brown was appointed to try the case for the plaintiffs, but was able to secure a confidential settlement for them two weeks before trial was set to begin. The team included partner Michael Gill and associate Jerel Dawson.
