Mayer Brown represented the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, a US government agency, as the lead investor in a $175 million collateralized loan obligation securitization by responsAbility Financial Inclusion Investments 2019 DAC, a designated activity company incorporated in Ireland.

The issuer used the proceeds of the securitization to fund a portfolio of underlying loans. These underlying loans will be made to financial institutions in emerging markets around the world to support their microfinance and small or medium business lending programs. The emerging markets institutional lenders have 5.6 million borrowers, 81 percent of whom are women, according to a statement from Zurich-based responsAbility Investments AG, which will be managing the Irish issuer’s portfolio.

The Mayer Brown team included: Banking & Finance – partners Barbara Goodstein, Ryan Suda (both NY), Gabriela Sakamoto (DC), Paul Forrester (Chicago) and Dasha Sobornova (London) and counsel Pamela Sackmann, and associates Daniel Scher, Janice Kong (all NY) and Shahrukh Abbasi (London); Tax Transactions & Consulting – partner Steven Garden and associate Xiao Xiao; and Corporate & Securities – partner Bruce Perce (all Chicago).
