Mayer Brown announced today that Pro Bono Advisor Marc Kadish and Litigation & Dispute Resolution senior counsel Lee Abrams and associates Priya Desai and Benjamin Shoemaker received an “Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service” from the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
As part of the 20th annual Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Awards, Chicago-area attorneys are recognized for their contributions in helping people most in need of assistance before the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Kadish, Mr. Abrams, Ms. Desai and Mr. Shoemaker were recognized for their work in representing an inmate who was injured and denied proper medical treatment in prison. The team was able to secure a settlement for the inmate following a mediation with Chief US District Judge Ruben Castillo.
The recognition marks the third time Mayer Brown lawyers have been recognized by the federal district court and Chicago chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
