Mayer Brown was honored with three awards at this year's Asia Legal Awards. 

The firm won the award for "Asian Pro Bono Initiative of the Year" in recognition of its pro bono initiative to  help substantiated refugees obtain employment permission in Hong Kong. 

The firm was also recognized in the "Private Equity Deal of the Year" and "Energy and Infrastructure Project of the Year" categories.

“We are very pleased to be helping refugees who do not have access to legal assistance. The recognition at the Asia Legal Awards is an added bonus" said Hong Tran, a Hong Kong partner of Mayer Brown. 

"Our pro bono work with refugees would not have been possible without the firm's 'Got 20?' program, which encourages our lawyers to perform at least 20 hours of pro bono work each year."

In the deal category, the firm won "Energy and Infrastructure Project of the Year" for its advisory role in the Jawa-1 project, a major 1.76GW combined-cycle gas-fired power plant in West Java, Indonesia. 

The firm also won "Private Equity Deal of the Year"for advising a leading bank on the Ant Financial series c financing project.

This recognition validates the firm's capabilities in banking and finance, and projects work in Asia.

Winners of the Asia Legal Awards 2019 were announced on 21 March 2019 at a gala dinner held in Hong Kong. The Asia Legal Awards is co-organized by The Asian Lawyer, China Law & Practice, The American Lawyer and Legal Week.
