Tauil & Chequer Advogados (T&C), in association with Mayer Brown, announced today that the Federal Court of Accounts, often referred to as the Tribunal de Contas da União (TCU), has honored Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Luís Inácio Adams (Brasília) with the Grand Medal of Judicial Merit. Mr. Adams was selected by the TCU for his service as attorney general of Brazil, among other legal achievements over his lifetime.
Mr. Adams focuses his practice on cases in the Superior Court of Justice and Supreme Court. He served as a National Treasury attorney from 1993-2001. In 2001-2002, he served as the deputy general counsel for litigation in the attorney general’s office. Mr. Adams was also the general counsel and later executive secretary (vice-minister) of the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management. In 2006, he was appointed to serve as the general counsel of the Ministry of Finance. In 2009, Mr. Adams was appointed as minister and attorney general of Brazil.
The TCU is an arm of the legislative branch of the Brazilian government.
