London — Mayer Brown has further strengthened its tax capabilities in London with the appointment of Simon Rose. Simon joins the firm's Tax Transactions & Consulting practice as a partner from Michelmores, where he was head of tax.

"Simon's considerable experience and technical abilities make him a great fit for our practice," said James Hill, London Head of Tax Transactions & Consulting at Mayer Brown. "In addition, he has great sector knowledge, which will further our ability to provide transactional and advisory tax services to our UK and global clients, particularly those in the real estate sector."

As a tax lawyer with more than 25 years' experience, Simon advises on a variety of structures. His practice has a particular focus on UK, offshore and international funds in the real estate and private equity-focused sectors, including investment vehicles such as limited partnerships, joint ventures, unit trusts, open-ended investment companies, REITS and hybrid funds.

In addition to being a solicitor, Simon Rose is a chartered tax advisor and an associate of the Institute of Indirect Taxation. Prior to joining Michelmores, Simon spent nearly ten years as a partner at Nabarro.

Sally Davies, London Senior Partner at Mayer Brown, said: "We are investing in our London practices to support the continued development of our client offering. Simon's arrival is very much part of that plan. He will be a great asset to our Tax team and transactional practices."
