Paris - Mayer Brown announces David Bakouche’s appointment as Special Counsel. This appointment is fully in accordance with Mayer Brown policies of developing expertise of its teams.

David holds a DEA in private law and a doctorate from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Assas. His doctoral thesis was published in LGDJ (Libraire générale de droit et de jurisprudence) and garnered awards both from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Assas and from the Chancellerie. He received the title of Agrégé des Facultés de droit in 2003 and is Professor at the University of Paris-Sud (Paris XI) where he teaches French civil law and insurance law.

David focuses on the French law of obligations (contracts, special contracts, civil liability). He is the author of several works in civil law and of numerous articles in the leading French law reviews, including Semaine juridique, Contrats concurrence consummation, and Responsabilité civile et assurances). He is also in charge of a chronicle of obligations law for the Lexbase online publication, for which he is also technical editor in chief. He regularly publishes leading articles in the insurance field on problems of coverage, efficiency of insurance policy provisions, professional responsibility, and product liability. David frequently participates in colloquia, notably at the Cour de cassation.

David’s experience in the law on obligations has led to his becoming an authority on insurance law, the foundations of which are anchored in the French law on the fundamental principles of contract law and civil liability.
