Mayer Brown announced today that Chicago-based Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Lori E. Lightfoot is a recipient of the 2018 Champion of Democracy Award from Common Cause Illinois.

Common Cause recognized Ms. Lightfoot’s work as the Chair of the mayor’s Task Force on Police Accountability, in which she, along with her colleagues, issued a powerful report, calling for significant change in Chicago’s police accountability infrastructure. In addition, the organization highlighted Ms. Lightfoot as a key leader in the movement—working closely with Common Cause Illinois and the Independent Map Coalition—to get an independent map amendment and end gerrymandering in Illinois in 2016.
