Mayer Brown announced today that Children’s Law Center (CLC) named the firm a “Champion for Children,” a recognition highlighting the generosity of organizations whose total annual giving to CLC exceeded that of their peers. In 2017, the firm donated more than $50,000 to CLC in support of Washington DC’s most at-risk kids.
“Our team relies on the generosity of our supporters to help us advocate for the District’s most vulnerable children,” CLC Executive Director Judith Sandalow said. “Mayer Brown has been an invaluable partner on both the pro bono and financial front, and I am so grateful for the team’s continued support. They have changed hundreds of lives for the better, ensuring more children have learning time in the classroom and more.”
For more than a decade, Mayer Brown and CLC have teamed up on pro bono efforts. CLC has worked as a campaign partner of “Making the Case for Kids,” the firm’s multidimensional community service and pro bono campaign aimed at supporting children and education. Last year, CLC honored Mayer Brown with the 2017 “Children’s Pro Bono Champion” award at its annual Helping Children Soar Benefit.
CLC is Washington DC’s largest legal services provider. The nonprofit fights so every Washington DC child can grow up with a loving family, good health and quality education. Today, the organization reaches one out of every nine children in the District’s poorest neighborhoods – more than 5,000 children and families each year.
