London — Mayer Brown is pleased to announce that Neil Evans has been appointed as a partner in the firm's private equity team in London.

Neil represents private equity sponsors and corporates on public and private M&A, ECM, buyout transactions and equity investments across a broad range of sectors. Neil joins Mayer Brown from Simpson Thacher & Bartlett. Earlier in his career he worked at Clifford Chance, where he also trained.

Neil's arrival (5 March 2018) builds on the strategic expansion of the firm's private equity offering in London, which was spearheaded by the appointment of Perry Yam as head of Private Equity in London in February 2016.

Perry, who was recently appointed co-leader of the global Corporate & Securities practice at Mayer Brown, said:

"This is an exciting time for our private equity practice and we have ambitious plans for the future that will see us deepen and strengthen our cross-border offering, particularly in New York, Germany, Paris and London. Neil is a superb lawyer with great client credentials. He is a perfect fit for our practice and we are delighted to welcome him to the team. The expansion of the London private equity team has only just begun."

Sally Davies, London Senior Partner at Mayer Brown, said: “Neil will be a great addition to the private equity team in London and globally. He is a rising star with a vibrant practice which complements our team’s strength and experience well.”

Neil said: "I am thrilled to be joining Mayer Brown and I look forward to developing my practice on a strong global platform as part of a talented and ambitious private equity team."

Mayer Brown's international private equity team spans four continents to provide extensive advice on all private equity transactions. The team recently advised Vitruvian Partners and its portfolio company JAC Travel on the sale to Australian-listed Webjet and Stirling Square Capital Partners LLP on its investment in The Magnum Corporation, Caltherm Corporation in the US and Vernet SAS in France.
