The 2018 edition of World Trademark Review (WTR) 1000 recognized six partners in Mayer Brown’s global Intellectual Property practice and awarded the firm a top tier ranking in Hong Kong SAR and the PRC. The guide also ranked Mayer Brown in the United States: Illinois and International categories.
The Mayer Brown partners that were recognized in five jurisdictions for their capabilities and contributions include: Benjamin Choi, Gabriela Kennedy, Rosita Li (all Hong Kong), Michael Adams (United States–Illinois), Richard Assmus (United States, United States–Illinois) and John Mancini (United States–New York).
Ranking as one of the top individuals in enforcement and litigation, WTR 1000 describes Ms. Kennedy as a “perspicacious brand strategist with whetted enforcement skills” and an “IP doyenne.” The guide says Ms. Li and Mr. Choi are respected as “immensely practical lawyers” who bring versatility and transactional expertise to the practice respectively.
Bringing a “level-headed approach” and “great personality,” Mr. Adams co-leads the global branding team and is one of the best in the country for domain name issues. WTR 1000 says Mr. Assmus “acquits himself admirably in delicate transactions and high-stakes litigation,” describing him as easy to work with and business-oriented. Finally, Mr. Mancini, a “fierce litigator,” is also praised for his fair and reasonable approach to reaching a good resolution.
