Mayer Brown announced today that Glen A. Kopp, a former prosecutor in the Southern District of New York, has joined the firm in New York as a partner in its Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Previously, Mr. Kopp was a partner with Bracewell, where he served as the chair of that firm’s white collar practice.
“A strategic focus of our practice is to increase our capability in steering clients through high-stakes white-collar and enforcement matters,” said Daniel L. Stein, a New York-based partner in Mayer Brown’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice and former chief of the Criminal Division for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. “With his background as a federal prosecutor and experience in white-collar matters, including regulatory enforcement and domestic and international investigations, Glen’s arrival puts us in a strong position to achieve that objective.”
As an Assistant US Attorney in the Southern District of New York, Mr. Kopp conducted complex investigations, prosecuted criminal jury trials and argued in the federal court of appeals. He handled a variety of fraud investigations and led the prosecution of matters involving international money laundering, terrorism and national security. In private practice, Mr. Kopp has advised clients in a broad array of areas, including cybersecurity, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), government contract fraud, and corporate and securities fraud, among others.
“Multinational corporations today face government scrutiny around the world, with confusing and often conflicting regulatory regimes,” said Mr. Kopp. “This was a significant factor in my decision to join Mayer Brown, which, with its global platform, offers abundant opportunity to advise clients facing these pressures around the world.”
“Like Dan Stein and Michael Martinez, who are also highly regarded for their previous experience in government, Glen adds a valuable dynamic to our growing white collar practice in New York,” added Richard A. Spehr, partner-in-charge of Mayer Brown’s New York office. “Our clients will benefit immediately from his skill set, and we are delighted to welcome him to the firm.”
Mr. Kopp earned his JD from Columbia Law School and his AB, magna cum laude, from Duke University.
