Mayer Brown was presented with the Bronze Law Firm Award at the Law Society of Hong Kong’s 2017 Pro Bono and Community Service Award Presentation Ceremony. The award recognizes a law firm that has exceeded its Law Society peers in terms of the proportion of time it has dedicated to pro bono activities and community service.

During the recognition period between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017, Mayer Brown completed more than 1,500 hours of community and pro bono work. Among those who took part, many of the firm’s legal staff performed over 10 hours of pro bono work, providing invaluable support and guidance to charitable/non-profit organizations such as Music Children Foundation, Big Silver Community, Child Development Initiative Alliance and Child Development Matching Fund to name a few.

Billy Y.C. Lam, partner and Mayer Brown's corporate social responsibility lead, commented, “It is a great honor to receive this award for the outstanding pro bono and community service work our staff have been involved in. We strongly encourage all our lawyers to participate in these activities, and this award reflects our commitment to assisting the disadvantaged, helping to build a more inclusive society, and providing equal opportunities and access to justice.”

The Awards, part of the Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Program, is a respected industry event that shows appreciation for and recognition of Law Society members, both individual legal professionals and firms, who/that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to volunteer pro bono and community work.
