Mayer Brown was honored by the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice’s Environment Program at the 2017 Celebration of International Pro Bono Excellence event. The firm was recognized for advising The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in its efforts to balance energy development and the conservation river systems in Mexico, in which Mayer Brown analyzed Mexico’s new regulatory framework for energy development, mapped public and private stakeholders, investigated possibilities for renewable energy and assisted TNC in identifying sustainable electricity generation strategies. The Mayer Brown team included Corporate & Securities partner Francisco Mendez and Banking & Finance associates Lilia Alonzo and Victor Vazquez (all Mexico City).

Part of the New York City Bar Association, the Vance Center for International Justice provides legal representation to civil society organizations around the world with frequent collaboration by leading law firms on a pro bono basis. The Center’s Environment Program promotes collaboration to address environmental challenges through advocacy, research, innovative solutions and conscientious stewardship of natural resources.
