Mayer Brown has been recognised by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards Asia-Pacific 2017 in two categories for excellence in business of law and legal expertise.

The firm has been "commended" in the Business Law – Managing and Development Talent category for leveraging the business model of New York University's Stern School of Business in its training workshop to deepen business acumen and risk awareness of senior associates.

In addition, the firm has been"commended" in Legal Expertise-Managing Complexity & Scale (International) category for its advisory role in Myanmar's landmark power project.

The FT Innovative Lawyers Awards honour lawyers at law firms and in-house legal teams and general counsels for innovation in legal expertise, business of law and social responsibility. The awards were accompanied by a special FT Innovative Lawyers Report published in the newspaper. The report, FT 25 International, ranks the top 25 firms in Asia-Pacific, including Mayer Brown at the 20th position for 2017.
