London — Mayer Brown has appointed Litigation & Dispute Resolution partner Sally Davies to the position of London senior partner. Sally has been elected to a five-year term effective 1 July 2017 and succeeds Sean Connolly, who steps down at the end of June after 10 years in the role.
Sally joined the firm as a trainee in 1992 and was made a partner in 2001. In addition to her appointment as senior partner, Sally was recently elected to serve on the firm's global Partnership Board. She is also an active member of the firm's Corporate Social Responsibility committee in London.
Under Sean's leadership, Mayer Brown's London office has transformed itself into a hub for complex, cross-border legal advice. Sean will continue as a partner in the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice, where he advises on multi-jurisdictional disputes.
"Sean and I have worked closely together for many years and the London office has benefited immensely from his wisdom, influence and leadership," said Paul Theiss, the chairman of Mayer Brown. "Sean is our longest-serving senior partner firmwide, and his steady hand at the wheel has guided the London office as it has developed and strengthened over the last ten years. On behalf of the firm, I want to thank Sean for his leadership and continued commitment to the firm.
"Sean hands the reins over to Sally, whom I am delighted to congratulate on her appointment," added Paul. "Sally will be an excellent ambassador for the firm in the London market and I am confident that the office will continue to thrive under her leadership."
"I am delighted and privileged to have been elected as Mayer Brown’s new senior partner in London," said Sally. "Having been at the firm for the whole of my professional career I am passionate about our practice in London, and the individuals who have made it such a success. This is a very special place and I will do everything I can, with the help and support of others, to ensure that it goes from strength to strength. "
