Mayer Brown announced that 13 partners across six of the firm’s global offices were recognized as “IP Stars” in the 2017 edition of Managing Intellectual Property’s “World IP Handbook and Survey,” an annual analysis of the IP market. The lawyers were nominated by their peers and clients, and final inclusion was based on extensive research, including surveys and interviews with IP professionals conducted by the publication. Three Mayer Brown partners – Lisa Ferri, Joseph Mahoney and John Mancini – were recognized in two categories.

The Mayer Brown 2017 IP stars are:

  • Patent Stars – Stephen Baskin, Jamie Beaber, James Ferguson, Lisa Ferri, Alan Grimaldi, Gary Hnath, Sharon Israel, Colleen Tracy James, Joseph Mahoney, John Mancini, David Wang;
  • Trademark Stars – Lisa Ferri, Gabriela Kennedy, Joseph Mahoney, John Mancini and Brian Winterfeldt.

In addition, Mayer Brown was ranked nationally in the US in the Life Sciences, Copyright, International Trade Commission Litigation, Patent Contentious and Patent Trial and Appeal Board Litigation categories. Mayer Brown received top rankings in Copyright and Trademark for China (foreign firms) and in Copyright, Patent Contentious, Trademark Contentious and Trademark Filing & Prosecution in Hong Kong.

The firm was also “recommended” in the Patent Contentious category for Illinois, New York and Washington DC, the Trademark category for Illinois, and Trademark Contentious and Trademark Filing & Prosecution categories for Washington DC.
