Mayer Brown announced the promotion of 10 of its lawyers worldwide to counsel. The appointments are effective January 1, 2017.

The new counsel are:

Brian K. Andrea, Intellectual Property, Washington DC
Brian Andrea is an Intellectual Property counsel in Washington DC. Brian’'s practice focuses primarily on patent litigation. He participates in all phases of complex patent litigation, including motions practice, managing fact discovery, drafting and arguing claim construction, expert reports, summary judgment, trial preparation, trial, and settlement negotiations. Mr. Andrea has litigated patents in a wide variety of technologies, including medical devices, signal processing, automobile components, telecommunications, consumer appliances, computer software and food processing.

Michael H. Bornhorst, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Chicago
Michael Bornhorst is a counsel in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice of Mayer Brown’s Chicago office and is a member of the firm’s Consumer Litigation and Class Action Defense groups. He has successfully defended national financial institutions in more than 25 actions involving claims brought under a variety of federal statutes and various state unfair and deceptive trade practices statutes. Mr. Bornhorst has represented financial institutions in both state and federal litigation—both at the trial and appellate level—as well as in matters before federal regulators.

Susan Günther, Tax Transactions & Consulting, Frankfurt
Susan Günther is a Frankfurt-based counsel in Mayer Brown’s Tax Transactions & Consulting practice. She advises national and international clients on all tax aspects related to corporate and finance transactions, focusing on credit financing, securitization and real estate transactions. Furthermore, Ms. Günther advises multinational companies on employee mobility and all tax aspects related to German pension law.

Jennifer Kratochvil, Banking & Finance, Chicago
Jennifer Kratochvil is a Chicago-based counsel in the Banking & Finance practice. She represents lenders and borrowers in syndicated secured and unsecured lending transactions, letter of credit transactions, debt restructurings and other financing transactions. Ms. Kratochvil’s experience includes preparation of financing documentation in leveraged buyouts and representation of borrowers and commercial banks in transactions involving reinsurance and insurance companies.

Wladimir Mangel, Real Estate, Paris
Admitted to the Paris Bar, Wladimir Mangel is a counsel in the Real Estate practice of the Paris office. He has a particular experience in a variety of transactions and disputes in the field of real estate and construction law. Mr. Mangel advises investors in complex real estate transactions and, in that context, has taken part in numerous acquisitions of portfolios, individual assets and groups or companies. He has extensive experience in advising asset managers, developers and real estate investment funds in the hospitality and leisure sector as well as office buildings and warehousing portfolios.

Marcin Perzanowski, Banking & Finance, London
Marcin Perzanowski is a London-based counsel in the Banking & Finance practice. Marcin has extensive experience in advising on a broad range of derivatives and structured finance transactions for banks, corporates, funds, pension schemes and insurance companies. Mr. Perzanowski regularly advises his clients in relation to financings structured as total return swaps, repos, securities loans and margin loans. He often works on investment products such as credit linked notes or instruments referencing proprietary indices, and he has advised on a number of complex derivatives transactions across several asset classes.

Laura Rosiecki, Banking & Finance, New York
A counsel in the New York office and member of the Banking & Finance practice, Laura Rosiecki advises commercial banks, multilateral financial institutions, export credit agencies and sponsors in a variety of domestic and cross-border investment and financing transactions. Her experience ranges across sectors and technologies, including the power (coal, wind, solar and hydroelectric), oil and gas, transport (rail and roads) and ports sectors. In addition, Ms. Rosiecki has significant experience in the investment fund and private equity sectors representing leading lenders and agents in the negotiation and documentation of syndicated financing transactions.

Hadrian Schlumberger, Corporate & Securities, Paris
Admitted to the Paris Bar, Hadrien Schlumberger is a Paris-based counsel in the Corporate & Securities practice. His experience involves a wide range of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisition transactions regarding both private and public companies. Mr. Schlumberger regularly advises international firms and private equity funds on their acquisitions, joint ventures and governance issues. He has also extensive experience on restructuring issues.

Konstantin von Werder, Intellectual Property, Frankfurt
Konstantin von Werder is a counsel in the Intellectual Property practice. Based in Frankfurt, he focuses on intellectual property litigation. He has represented clients from various industries in intellectual property litigation in courts throughout Germany. He has considerable experience in drafting complex license and distribution agreements and in providing advice on research and development agreements. Mr. von Werder also has an impressive background in advising clients from various industries in the information technology sector, with a special focus on complex software license agreements.

Vivien Yip, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Hong Kong
Based in Hong Kong, Vivien Yip is a counsel in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice. Ms. Yip has developed a strong practice advising on financial services related disputes, with an additional focus on PRC-related corporate and commercial disputes. She also has extensive experience advising on shareholders and securities disputes, probate litigation and media-related litigation.
