London — Mayer Brown has been named European Law Firm of the Year in the regulatory category at GlobalCapital’s annual Global Derivatives Awards 2016. The awards, held on 20 September in London, recognise the people, companies and deals that have made an impact on the global derivatives market during the past year. The firm was also nominated for Global Law Firm of the Year.

This is the second time Mayer Brown's derivatives team has won a GlobalCapital Global Derivatives Award, having been named European law firm of the year in 2015. The firm was also named US Law Firm of the Year in the regulatory category at the GlobalCapital Americas Derivatives Awards in May 2016.

Commenting on winning the award, Edmund Parker, global head of the Derivatives & Structured Products practice, said: "We are delighted to be recognised again by GlobalCapital as a leading global derivatives practice. We advise almost all of the derivatives market-makers as well hedge funds, asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds and corporates on the most complex structured transactions. We are particularly involved in helping our clients navigate the new margin and other derivatives regulations on both sides of the Atlantic and in Asia. Winning the award for law firm of the year in the regulatory category in both the US and Europe is a testament to the time and effort all of our team puts in to best serve our clients.”

The winners of the Global Derivatives Awards 2016 were selected by GlobalCapital’s editors based on client feedback and innovation, expertise, uniqueness of approach and growth shown over the last year.
