London — Mayer Brown advised Sinarmas Land Limited, one of South East Asia’s largest property development companies, on the purchase of the Alphabeta building, which was named Deal of the Year at this year’s Property Week Awards.

The landmark building situated in Finsbury Square, London, was purchased from Resolution Property in October 2015 for more than £250 million and marked the largest single-asset acquisition for Sinarmas Land to date. The prime freehold property comprising 247,670 sq ft of contemporary office and retail development, has been completely refurbished, mixing modern finishes with historic architecture from the lower ground to eighth floors, including a secure, 210-space cycle store and a dedicated entrance ramp which allows cyclists to ride directly into the building.

Martin Wright, European Head of Real Estate at Mayer Brown, said: "This deal was one of the standout transactions of 2015 and it is a well-deserved winner of Deal of the Year award. We are delighted to have acted for Sinarmas Land on the purchase of this stunning building."

The Mayer Brown team was led by Martin Wright and included Real Estate Finance partner Andrew Hepner, senior associates Danielle Gerber, Kirsty Harrower, Robert Patterson and Gareth Shackleton, and associate Elizabeth Butler; Corporate & Securities partner Jeremy Kenley, senior associate Dominic Palmer; Environment & Planning partner Michael Hutchinson; Construction partner Jonathan Olson-Welsh and associate Charles Pacey; and Tax Transactions & Consulting partner Sandy Bhogal, senior associate Benjamin Fryer and associate Kitty Swanson.

Property Week Award winners are selected by a judging panel of industry experts. The awards, which reward outstanding performance in the property industry, were held on 19 April in London.
